Alexander Wang's career in fashion started in 2004 after the designer dropped out of the Parsons School of Design to launch his eponymous label at the age of 21. The designer collection began with a focus on knitwear based on unisex silhouettes. Soon after the launch, Wang debuted his first runway collection for Autumn Winter 2007 at New York Fashion Week. It didn't take long for Anna Wintour to acknowledge the young talented designer. With the support of Vogue's Editor-in-Chief, Alexander Wang had soon risen to fame, winning the Vogue/CFDA Fashion Fund in 2008. The year 2009 saw the designer awarded the Swiss Textiles Award and announced as the Swarovski Womenswear Designer of the Year. With a main collection and diffusion line, Wang's clothing and minimalistic designer bag designs are renowned for their "model off duty" appeal, inspiring an entire generation of women to dress in his über cool designs.
